I woke up early today mainly because I slept way too early last nite!!
Hahaha..
I was actually planning to do some "fort-watching" but it was down when I woke up...T_T
Anyway, I think I should discuss something that has been bothering for very long now...
Why did some people like to follow the crowd?
I've been trying to understand this issue for quite some time but I can't seem to work out the rationale of doing it...
There are a few reasons I can think of:
1. The individual is not experienced enough to make his/her own decision
2. The individual is not adept in making decisions / afraid of making mistakes
3. The individual is lazy to make decisions
Is there any other possible reasons for an individual to follow the crowd?
I am not a fan of doing something because someone is doing it or has done it...
I think I will just use a real example...
This is a case study that I obtained while I am a Functions Coordinator for Singapore Society...
When I woke up this morning, I was greeted by a message asking me and my colleague to organise a shipping service for Singaporeans who are graduating this year and have excess baggage to send back home...
I can't understand why the society needs to organise this...
I have been asking a lot of whys to the committee...
but everytime the answer given is "Last year committee did it for the members" or "Just do it!"
Both these reasons make me think...
They dun even know why they do this for!!!!
All they know is they have to do it because it has been done last year!!
Why do we have to continue the tradition?
Am I the only one thinking that if you have too much stuff and you can't bring it back, it's your own problem?
Ask my friends who are in Singapore for their O level and A level and ask them how they manage their baggage throughout their studies?
When I was in Singapore, I was so embarrassed that I had the most baggage..
some of my friends din even have anything to bring back!!!
So why do we have to care about people who can't even manage these little things?
I've always believed that the committee is capable enough to make their own judgements..
but I was proven wrong AGAIN this morning...
Last year committee did it for the members mainly because they had 10-12 people leaving compared to a meagre 6 for this year and 2 persons already indicated that they do not require this shipping service which further reduces the number to 4!!
If you organise for 10-12 people, there is still a pro to it in the sense that, you can get group rate..
but 4 people for a group rate?
I dun think so...
I always feel that an individual has to adapt to new situations and not blindly adopt approaches that has worked in the past..
Unfortunately, this view is not shared by the rest of the committee...
